Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. This is not only a fake, it's a horrible fake. On the right is a PCGS XF45 example. Look at the areas in the circles......

Okay. Well I'm going to send it in and I'll let everyone know. It's my money to waste. I don't believe the dealer would have offered what they did if it was fake, and I don't beleive the man is lying to me. I appreciate the repsonses even if they're not what I wanted to hear. Again, no guts no glory.

You're making a silly decision. Seriously, this is 100% fake without question.

As already stated, check the edge, is it reeded? By all means, if you want, submit it to PCGS, but you will hear the same thing you already heard here, and it won't be for free!

Please tell us if the edge is reeded or lettered.

Hondo, some fakes have the edge lettering, can't go by that. Look at my comparison pic above. It's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy off. Not even close. I can just about guaranty the person that sold it to you knew it was fake.

Bobby, in OP's pic of the obverse it appears that the edge is reeded. That's why we kept asking for clarification.
The fake on the website you posted is even silver-plated. How sneaky!

Yes, the edge is reeded. I didn't have an option to get my hands to it for pictures prior to the purchase. It is what it is, and not the end of the world. I'm in shock, I really am. I truely believed the dealer would have known. But hey, it's an ounce of silver anyway. Or thereabouts. I do see the difference in the stars now that it's been pointed out. Comparing mine to so many on ebay and knowing this didn't come from the internet, I thought it was a safe purchase.

You said the dealer ticked him off. Probably because he told him it was fake. Just about any dealer would pretty much instantly know it's a fake.

More bad news.... I highly doubt it. *Possibly* plated but I bet that's it.

MajorPat, any chance of returning it to your neighbor for a refund?

As it's already been stated, 100% fake. I knowledgeable dealer should be able to spot that at a glance. Hopefully your neighbor is willing to refund your money. If they aren't willing, I'd seriously question the story they're telling you and their intentions.

I don't know what your relations with your neighbor are like but politely ask them for a refund. "A dealer told me ... blah blah blah" is such a common scam tactic but I don't want tp pre-judge them on that alone. Whatever you paid for it is too much to just say "oh well" in my view.
