Hi all, I recently acquired this 1838 large cent and it appears to have the Broken N and T reverse of either N-11, 15 or 16. Upon looking at the obverse the E in Liberty is fairly level with the R. On the n-11 it is usually MUCH higher (i have an 11 to compare it to and this one is much lower) However the general characteristics of N-15 and 16 are not present on my coin ( dentillation differences (N-15's tend to have heavy dentils on the obverse and non-existent on the reverse , and n-16s tend to have weakly struck obverses and mediocre dentils on the reverse) Mine doesn't really fit either of these. Are there other markers for the N-15 and N-16 ? I can't seem to find any.
Thanks all!

Looks to me like N-11. As you say N-15 always comes with strong obv denticals, and the reverse denticals are gone on both 15 and 16. N-11 comes with both strong denticals, and weak reverse denticals as the die wears. This looks like a late stge of N-11 shortly before the obv die cracked and formed the Cud found on "N-13". The pattern of the rev dentilation fading also matches a late stage N-11.

Here are two photos, the first is my coins LIBERTY and the second is from an N-11 on heritage....The E on the N-11 is Much higher on that coin to me than mine is. That seems to be the main way to identify between the 3 different N numbers with the Broken N reverse...... or maybe I am just imagining it?
