Your title says 2 cents when in fact it is a draped bust Half Cent. Looks consistent with the 1804 spiked chin variety with crossed 4 and stems. Even the rippled field in front of the throat area is a correct marker. The weight is only 1/10th of a gram under weight which should be within specs. It does have a somewhat grainy appearance however and if genuine must have been cleaned at some point to display this color. I'm leaning toward genuine but I digress to those more knowledgeable with this series.

Thanks for fixing the title! I was tired when I posted it and 2 Cents and Half Cents are about the same size. Like most of you I saw the Spiked chin Variety and the "fingerprint" on the right side of the obverse and thought---yeah looks real! But look closely at the reverse and compare it to the 4 known Cohen varieties for Spiked chins....particular the position of the 2 in 1/200. Either this is a new previously unknown variety, or its a fake. Change anyone opinions?

A few of my first observations were of the obverse. The eye socket doesn't look normal. The roughness around the date and behind the hair curls plus the hairlines behind the hair ribbon. The reverse looks a little odd too with planchet flaws that almost resemble clash marks, whatever is going on in front of the 200 and after the 200, the word "HALF" looks slanted and the graininess of the lettering. A lot of questionable red flags for this old novice to the series!

I say NOT genuine . Too many inconsistencies on the reverse, not to mention the graininess.
Could I be wrong? - maybe - but that"s my opinion.

Looks like they married the obverse to a reverse belonging to an 1803...
