I got my first "bit" (actually, it's a hunk) of Peruvian gold recently. This 100 Soles coin is an incredible beauty (but not cheap). I'm looking into possibly some other similar pieces, but these are not very common.

They are pretty. But are they not regarded as a bullion coin? Price wise.

No, not given the prices you'd pay. These easily have a $400-$800+ premium for MS63-65 grades.

Beautiful coin, and 1.35 ounces gold weight is substantial heft. From what I can see, they trade for about 10% above bullion rounds like the maple leaf, currently selling for about $3000 US.

I'd be curious to see what sources are in that $3000 range. Is this for raw and/or non MS? Generally I'm seeing prices in the $3500+ range.

I also neglected to mention, this particular piece only has a mintage of 540 pieces. However, I'm guessing most of these survive. Just between the 2 major services, they have around 300 graded (some probably regrades).

The prices I saw were for generic raw BU 1965's. Here's one from APMEX. The 1969 is much rarer.

Yeah, I saw that one, THQ. I'd be curious to see how it'd grade out at the services. The surfaces look a bit scuzzy to me with some brownish toning streaks. However, for a BU, it is an attractive price in general.
