Hi. What is going on here. Just a die gouge/chip on the nine?

Thanks, Mike

Umm, no.. It's not a die chip. I cannot say for sure that it's not an RPM, but it is something that affected the die before it went into a lot of use, and it did not develop, or progress, as die chips do. It's also not in a common area of weakness like a die chip would be.

Not sure whats with the 9, it does look like an RPM to me and the 1 seems odd to me, it doesn't look like a typical ding/smear to me on the top right of the 1, sorry for the weired description of ding/smear but that's all I could come up with .

I agree Chuck, it seems the "gouge" is slightly separated from the 9 which clearly shows in pic #1. Could it be that this die suffered some damage while in service causing this misplaced chip to be taken out? ~ Jim

Looks like a tilted RPM to me. The serifs on the lower mint mark.

Coop, would that be the 007, by any chance? I can't tell too much more about it.

Dick: It looks more like this one. Despite the damage on the upper part of the mint mark. Check out the markers on 036 for this year.
