Does anybody collect coin dies here? I am interested in the minting process and was thinking about getting one. Does anybody have information, or interests in these Dies?
I own one but do not collect them- a Colorado State Quarter die(from Denver naturally) but the surface is completely removed so really all you have is the metal shaft. It comes with a COA that lists details like number of coins struck, when it was in service, and why the die was retired. It also includes one of the first coins struck with that die(a true First Strike coin LOL). The Mint currently has the 2008 quarter dies available for $34.95.
I've seen the Olympic dies(there is one on ebay now, for $870), the 1998 cent, nickel, dime, and quarter, and the Statehood Quarter dies. Is there any other types that are out there?
