Hi I found this quarter yesterday and it has an odd raised metal protrusion. I'm guessing die chip... what do you guys think.?

Looking at the 'G' where that thing starts - I see that it is depressed, which tells me that the whole feature is incuse, which could be several things - a circulation hit, or a struck through object. For now I'll go with a hit.

Because of the G being disfigured, I will go with a hit mark as Dearborn said. The smooth edges after the G is interesting.

It's depressed. It's weird because when I look at it up close some angles look raised and others depressed.
But definitely depressed. What does a "hit" mean? I tried to take pictures showing it's depressed

It's Post Mint Damage PMD. Took a hit from some object and made a cut in the surface. I've new to this, but I'm sure that's what it means.
