We get to see how the Gdansk engraver potrayed Sigismund on this 1531 groat from Gdansk (still bad hair but no "bug eyes" and less scowl):   ...And another interesting abbreviation reverse, DANC3 for something like GEDANENSIS (fuller spelling seen on the same type a few years later)

"Danczik" and similar seem to have been ways to spell the city's name, and although not in line with the rest of the inscription being in Latin, I think DANCZ is a short form of the local name.

That probably makes more sense than it abbreviating a couple of syllables. Maybe it was just an engraver's preference. Nice Riga coin. I like their emblem (is that a lion's face inside the city gate?) For 1530 another groat of Sigismund struck at the Torun mint:
