Likewise here for 1487.
Thanks for posting that 1488 ... Since Low Countries are a theme of mine, I need to keep an eye out for one of those to fill my gap for 1488. The larger types I know of are pretty pricey.

Excellent progress!
I wasn't sure what would happen with 1487 and 1486, which are tougher-than-usual early dates AFAIK, but we got through them nicely. IIRC there shouldn't be any other very tricky dates like that until well into the 1460s.
My next entry is 1452, which would be November 28th, I think.

Quote: My next entry is 1452, which would be November 28th, I think. Yes, ticking along nicely. I think I have 8 dated entries between now and 1452, mostly Jaunpur. I keep getting tempted to get HFBCWG Edition 7 moving again, but I dare not provoke the wrath of she who must be obeyed again.

Quote: Here is another Half Stuiver of Nijmegen: An interesting mintmark I'd expect to see on a coin from the Empire, not one from the Low Countries. Was Guelders/Nijmegen still under indirect control of Burgundy when this coin was issued?

Good question @sam, and I'm afraid that someone smarter than I am will have to provide your answer. I can tell you that the coins of Nijmegen are all pretty hard to find, especially the earlier decades of the 1460s and 1470s. From my Levinson, I'm not seeing the imperial orb on any of those five issues. It isn't until the decade of the 1480s that this design element appears. Confusingly, neither of the two issues of the 1490s seem to have it either. Also, I note that there is at least one much later coin from Nijmegen that has an imperial orb: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces320206.htmlAdded: As it turns out Nimegen minted 9 issues for Gelderland in the 1470s. None of these Half-, Full-, or Double-Briquets seem to have the imperial orb despite some helpful information from Levinson: Quote: Gelderland was a large duchy in southeastern Netherlands bordering the Rhine and German States. The duchy was successfully claimed by Charles the Rash in 1473 and beginning in 1474 a ducal mint was established there. Dated coins confirming to the normal Burgundian Netherlands standards of weight, fineness, and engraving were intermittently struck at the Gelderland mint by the Burgundian Netherlands rulers until 1492. So perhaps, whoever was overseeing the die cutting work at Nijmegen in the 1480s had a particular affinity for the imperial orb that his predecessors did not have?
