1964 D LMC Error On OBV North Of In

1964 D error on OBV North of IN. It looks like the top portion of the I and N where the rim should be. Also a portion of the rim seems to be missing. I have seen this on other coins in the pass but never gave it much thought. What can cause this? Let me know. Thanks, Frank B.

Mike, the reason I suggested what I did, was because of the rim damage just above the area in question.
