what is the weight of this coin? I don't think it is missing, but something happened to it that I cannot remember what Mike Diamond said about it. I'll have to research that. (or you can too Gigi) on this site... https://www.error-ref.com/

Hi Dearborn, and thank you! I weighted it earlier and weight 2.49, but I read an article saying this: "As with any denomination, cent weights will vary, with some falling above or below the mean. It's therefore possible to encounter a genuine unplated cent that matches or exceeds the weight of a normal cent" I read the side of error-ref for that error but couldn't find much information. But I can tell my coin has has the bright original Mint luster. I know when a coin is plated out of the mint because I have found few of them, and is no electroplated because actually I found few of them last week and I can tell is not the same, and I have found that don't have the copper but it looks dull, no shine at all. Here is the article that I found for this error. https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-c...nghouse.htmlHere is one of the coin that I found last week:

Heat toning. Notice how it is sunken in under the memorial, it looks like it melted Two coins I just tossed on my oven burner. Another group of coins I previously toasted.

gigi, your 85 is what Mike Diamond researched as Solid State Diffusion. It's when the zinc migrates to the surface of the coin. I don't understand it very well, but He inspected some of my 95s that I sent him and wrote it up in Coin World.

Figuring out errors and varieties is a step process. Mike would be the last step in that process. If you can't figure it out and the experts on this site can't, then it's Mike's turn. Almost all the posts here have centuries of experienced answers. When Mike response to a post, he will either answer your question, or he'll want to see the coin. I'd hate to see how busy we would keep him if we sent everything that we couldn't figure out.
