Much nicer in appearance judging by in hand pics than I thought it would look like. I get mine Monday. I might become a fan of the mint medals after this. I bet the gold in high relief will be stunning!

A recipient (on another coin forum) posted photos showing wide rim finning and tool marks on the edge of his example. We've seen finning with some degree of regularity on these medal issues out of the Philly mint. The 2022 "Bucking Bronco" comes to mind. . .

You think the US Mint will continue this series and strike a "Draped Bust" medal in the future? Because I much prefer that design over Flowing Hair.

I remember doing a Mint "survey" a few years ago and part of it included reissues of classics like these. I hope I'm still around if/when they get to one of my suggestions —- the 1836 Gobrecht Seated dollar with the starred and flying eagle reverse. It would be a stunner in my book!

Coinfrog One man's junk is another man's treasure. Many people love modern mint products for their beauty and artistry. I think this medal is a gorgeous example of modern mint products. I personally don't care if it's worth half of what I paid for it in six months or not. I just enjoy having it. It's a nice nod to my favorite US coin design with the flowing hair. Actually right now it looks like a smart buy with them selling out quickly and trading on ebay at almost twice the cost the mint charged.

The medal looks okay, however I can't ever see myself purchasing one for $100-$200+. Just not my cup of tea.. Now if the price comes down over the next few years I wouldn't mind picking one up. Nice pics of the medal Jbuck!
I've been collecting for a couple years... Favorite Coin's are Standing Liberty quarters, Working on my type set | Coffee, Corvettes, Coins & the CCF what could be better?

Morgans Dad Thanks for your kind remarks. I honestly forgot I had posted this thread until a couple of weeks ago and I was surprised at the time it had like 3000 reads at the time. My interest was initially due to the design. I have a well worn 1795 dollar and I was excited to own a sharp, mint state version of the design. I was originally put off that it's a medal but now I'm just excited about it. Thank you!!!
