After cashing at my "dump" bank $500 worth of half dollars from "sterile" customer-wrapped rolls I acquired during the past week, I decided to stop at the branch of a regional bank that never seems to have any half dollars. The teller told me she had one coin, and the other teller announced that she also had one half dollar. Oh, well. I handed over a dollar bill and pocketed my "treasure" without looking at the coins.

As I walked to my car I heard a high-pitched sound as they clanked in my pocket. Sure enough...both coins were 40% silver Kennedy half dollars! It is curious that each teller had one of those coins in their drawer. Did the same customer cash them in on different days? Quien sabe?

Regardless -- another bank to check in the future...

God I cannot believe you spend your time on such a well-proven worthless search.

Well, @NorthShore made $9.25 (10.24 minus the 1$ face value) and I lost $5000 on the stock market today. He' did better than I did by "wasting" his time!!!!!!!!

You do not have to believe it. You can just say "meh" to yourself and move along.

Maybe he actually enjoys the hunt, the hobby, and has a positive outlook.
I swing a metal detector and have a knack for finding dirty old coins.

"There's gold, and it's haunting and haunting;
It's luring me on as of old;
Yet it isn't the gold that I'm wanting
So much as just finding the gold."
