Hey guys just wondering if it's unusual for a dollar coin to have the mint mark so close to the date, I've never seen it that close before

to be honest, I never really looked at the distance of the MM to the date on these dollar coins - I just look to determine the mint..

Yea, I was doing dollars not long ago to fill in my SBA, presidential, and Sacagawea and came across it, I've never saw the mint right up against the date before, there is always a decent amount of space
