I was thinking I got the bottom of the barrel in these rolls. The nickels so far have been very beaten up, ugly and many from very late die state. Then I came across this one. Edited by Seeker_101 02/03/2025 11:56 pm

Awesome find. Yes, even though I haven't found that many of them, any War Nickels I've found in circulation are very worn.

I don't think I see either of the two major errors for the 1943-P, the 3/2 overdate, or the DDO (doubled eye) which I always check for. Great find by the way!

Superb find from a bank roll. Customer wrapped or machine wrapped? As Mrwhatsit noted, it is not the double eye DDO or the 1943/2. Still an AU coin that would make a solid folder filler. The patina is a nice authentic War Nickel patina without being that ugly sulfurous green or a dark black tarnish. Nice one! =) Definitely worth a few bucks if you sell it.

@ Brand: It was from a bank wrapped roll.
When I open a roll, I always look at the edges to see if any older nickels stand out. It also gets the dug coins out of the way. This one didn't stand out at all so it really was a surprise. Also had a decent 1942 Type 1 out of another roll. Awhile back I found a nice 1916 Buffalo in a roll.
