I was going through some change and I believe I found a weak strike on this 1985 D Dime. I looked online for comparisons and found some that look very similar. Is this an error that adds any value or is it even rare?

to CCF.

This 'could' be a weak strike, but I'm not too sure about that, I may have to research it a bit first..

I would think it is a die misalignment issue.

Inadequate Upset. http://goccf.com/t/79201

From the link to the thread I copied:

Quote:
The coin is not damaged, nor is it a broadstrike. This is a typical appearance for 1985-D dimes. The poorly struck design rim is a consequence of excessive die convexity (a design flaw) and inadequate upset at the Denver Mint.

Yup! This is an inadequate upset on the planchet. I have a couple of 1985-D Dimes with the same look.
