Hey all, I recently acquired what looks to be a pretty rare note.

I picked it up on vibes as I haven't come across too many type 2 notes. But from what research I've done the only info I could find was a HA sale of one of these back in like 2003 stating that there's only 6 examples known from this bank.

My main questions are 1. Is this note really that scarce? and 2. If it is, what kind of ballpark value does it have? I don't do a whole lot of currency and I know that rarity doesn't necessarily confer value.

Thanks!

Notes on this bank are not that scarce. There are at least 19 AVA IL notes known. I imagine there are over 20 now as my info is a little outdated.

Thank you for the info CoolBreeze! My only data point was from this HA auction: https://currency.ha.com/itm/nationa...ction-120115

So it doesn't surprise me that more examples have been discovered since over 20 years ago.

And will do Dearborn!

Track&Price currently lists 19 notes from this charter: 18 1929 Type 1 notes ($5 through $50 denominations), and a single $10 1929 Type 2 note with serial #A000424. Your note isn't listed in the census.

You're welcome Adam. Some states like Illinois had several under reported banks. A lot of notes from these old collections have since come to light.
