ijn1944 Bedrock of the Community United States 19278 Posts	Posted 05/21/2025 10:20 pm Not convinced its mechanical Rolling Machine Damage. What I'm seeing is tucked in very close to the rim. As a side note, when processing photos for uploading, check to be sure the images are not stretched/shrunken in the X oy Y axis--otherwise, the coin featured looks artificially 'out of round'. It's Peripheral Die Damage (PDD). https://www.error-ref.com/peripheral-die-damage/ Quote: A third 1983 cent with loss of the outer portion of the field and its replacement by an incuse area of die damage. The cent probably represents a die attrition error. This curved groove is an unusual (but by no means unique) form of die damage and implies the presence of a thin burr extending down from the damaged portion of the die.
