Quote: I don't know how you find those posts! When you get into the subforum you want to be in, (this on being US Modern Variety and Error Coins), go to the upper left corner and you will see a "search this forum" box, just put what you are searching for in there. It's a little flighty, so you may have to make it simple before it brings up anything, I'm still figuring that out.... I have circled the area in red in the pic.

Thanks, NY Islander. I knew I had seen others posted on here but could not find them. I'm sure there are more.

The pattern on these 97s (or are all these reverses the same coin? I cannot decide if the differences I see between them are due to lighting or not) is clearly different. I cannot discern that they show an arc, so I am thinking they were not done by a different mechanism type. I will keep your photos and give you credit if I use them for educational purposes.

Quote: Pete, this is not the same die but wanted to show you a listing that shows very similar die damage on it. The second link is for all of these listings, there are several.... The 1960 D small date were a mess. There may be a match for the coin you are showing but not enough info to tell. THANK YOU! I searched those clashes and missed this one you found! They speculate that it is feeder mechanism related. This helps my confidence in saying the same about my example. Their example shows additional scrapes missing on mine that provide confirmation, I think!

Quote: Might have an example for you here Pete. Thank you! I cannot be certain about this one. I think I would need to see more examples on other coins.
