I am not able yet able to find which VAM this coin might be but I did see VAM 23 has an image of a non diagnostic crack and mine seems to be have the same crack - can anyone let me know what a non diagnostic crack means? Also why is this coin so pitted?

Here is link to non diagnostic crack image.

Maybe this coin is just pre polishing lines?

Thanks in advance.

From the Internet:

"Non-diagnostic cracks, on the other hand, are die cracks that are too small, common, or not consistently present to serve as a reliable means of identifying a specific die or variety."

Thanks Marve, that's interesting as that's what seems to identify VAMs. Especially interesting when there are VAMs that are way less distinguishable than a small die crack.

Seems to be a bit hypocritical doesn't it?

Cannot diagnose a VAM with the pics given, Pitting was an issue with this year, maybe higher than usual humidity in New Orleans that year, which is saying a lot.

what a non diagnostic crack means
My guess is this was a weak spot for this year and maybe similar cracking on other dies/VAMs that were extremely similar, just a guess.
