Humanist1287 If on a budget, the best thing to do is not buy the first things that come along, but hunt for bargains. Many of the coins that are rated the same can be found at different prices. Some sellers want to get rid of the coin, so they lower the price drastically or make an offer.

Quote: As much as I would love to buy some really expensive, really high grade examples of coins, it's just not feasible for me financially. Do not let anyone force you to buy outside your budget. Get the coins you can afford as long as they make you happy.

For the longest time I was able to spend as I wanted with no issues on the back end. Now that I bought my house, my payments went up by $700.00 monthly it will eat into my coin buying money. On the up side my loan, (if I make just the required monthly payments), will be paid off in 30 years - by then I'll be 94 years old (if I'm still alive - that is). but the point is is to buy what you can afford and do get pressured into anything different.

they did, I had the VA come out for a valuation estimate - they said that the house and property combined was valued at $450,000 and the owner let me have it for $375,000 'as-is'. So I'm happy with it. I'm able to do just about anything I need done in the house. (I work in the construction industry and I have lots of experience there. My Brother-in-Law is a cabinet maker and he said that he will build me brand new cabinets for my kitchen and bathrooms.. My sister is a Roofer (yeah think on that one) and she will help me rebuild my patio roof - which I want to go 2 feet higher. My neighbor across the street is a house painter and another neighbor I talk to on a regular basis, is a landscaper. So I have TONs of help to get things done at reasonable prices.

Quote: was valued at $450,000 and the owner let me have it for $375,000 Or was it? Quote: So I have TONs of help to get things done at reasonable prices. I only rented my first three years out of University. My dad insisted I buy a house and build equity sooner rather than later. He also insisted I start an IRA while I was still young. Wise man. I miss him. But I digress. Apologies, Humanist.

Wow! I sure wish my house was worth that much! Wonderful sentiments here, though. Okay, so, I got the 1981 type 2 proof yesterday. I think I got lucky with this one. I cracked open the slab to put it in my album, and the coin actually looks much better out of the slab. How it looked when I received it in the slab: After placing it in my Dansco 8180 album: It does have a bit of unsightly toning, but for 57 dollars, I'm not gonna complain! Progress with the album You can see a bit of the haze on this coin here, but not anything too horrible. Also added this page yesterday as well:

Thank you, friends! Coinforme, I'm all ears. I'm not looking to actively purchase the Sacagawea series at this point yet, but I figured maybe once I am done eventually with the SBA, I will get started. I really added the page mostly so I would have a place to put the ones for now that I already had. I plan to only go until 2008, when the actual " Sacagawea dollar" series technically ended, despite being sort of revamped in 2009 with the Native American dollars. I think I can leave those out. Plus, I won't have any more room in this album. Lol.
