Thanks! Is there something I should be looking for on the 2001 and 2023 obverses?

Humanist1287, with a bit of research, I was able to put this together for you, with some help from AI:

. . . . . . 2001 Canadian Nickel
. . 1. 2001 " no mint mark" (No P): Most common.
. . 2. 2001 "P Mint Mark" Nickel: Has a small "P" below the portrait.
. . 3. 2001 No-P Nickel With Steel Core (Non-Magnetic Error): Rare variety.
. . 4. Die Deterioration and Minor Obverse Variety
Some 2001 nickels show: Thickened lettering, Small die cracks, Slightly doubled obverse lettering ( Machine Doubling)

. . . . . . 2023 Canadian Nickel
. . 1. New Portrait: King Charles III: Left-facing portrait.
. . 2. No Reported Major Varieties (So Far): As of now:

Hope this info helped!

CoinforMe nice research but not quite right,

2001 No P mintage 20,036,000 harder to find
2001 P mintage 136,650,000 most common

2023 nickel comes with the Queen or the King on the obv.

Thats what I was after if it had a P or not and which 2003 he had.

I recently acquired a third blank cents page, thus allowing me to move the Canadian cents into proper places.... At least for now.

Quite like these older Canadian cents

This is my first actual purchased Canadian cent. I think it cost around 2 dollars. Can't remember.

I am not doing varieties, so I just need some more coins for the years I'm missing eventually down the road.

Very nice start, but you may need a few varieties to fill in a few holes.

Thanks. Nah, I'll move everything around eventually and just leave the rest empty at the end.

Thanks, EV.

Interestingly enough, Lighthouse has their Canadian small cent album available again. I am wondering if I should eventually attempt to purchase one?

It's a four page album and unfortunately, contains several "varieties." I don't know enough about Canadian coinage to say whether they are expensive or not. It might be a fun project, though.

@Humanist1287: - Just for a point of clarification: The "P" on your 2001 nickel means it's plated, made from a steel core with nickel and copper layers. "Alloy and composition: Copper-plated steel (94.5% steel, 3.5% copper, 2 % nickel)"
The 2001 nickel without the P: "Alloy and composition: Cupro-nickel (75% copper, 25% nickel)" ...... Quotes from Coinsandcanada.com
The P is not a mint mark.
