This 1985 Suriname 2 1/2 Gulden P-119a is a beautifully engraved note with nice colors. The obverse depicts a blue-gray tanager, while the reverse features a lizard and view of Afobaka Dam.
1984 - Costa Rica 50 Colones: Gaspar Ortuño y Ors is shown on the obverse of this note. He was born in Benidorm, in the province of Alicante in Spain, now a thriving holiday resort. He emigrated to Costa Rica at the age of 25 and later founded the country's National Bank, in addition to becoming the first President of the Costa Rican Red Cross, passing away in 1925 at the ripe old age of 90. The reverse of the note shows the Bank of Costa Rica and the reverse of a 19th-century 50-centimo coin.
This note must be one of the 'newest' notes I've ever owned - I got it in change while I was in Costa Rica between about December 10, 1984 and February 1, 1985, so it could only have been a month or two old when I first got it.
Next I'll post a 1984 Netherlands Antilles 5 Gulden P-15b. Numista describes the obverse: "Independence (Autonomy) Monument "Statuut Monument" in Willemstad, Curaçao, View of Willemstad, capital of Curaçao with Queen Annie floating bridge in front." The reverse shows the crowned arms.
-It's nice to have a personal connection to the notes you keep @NumisRob! Great condition too!
Quote: First up is a 1984 Indonesia 100 Rupiah P-122a, with a Victoria crowned pigeon
Gorgeous looking birds on those examples CB! 1984 My 1st example from this year is a Bahamas P-45a $5.00 with the first "Allen" signature: https://en.numista.com/225864
The 2nd example was a "biggy" for me as it took a while to complete my Solomon set. For years I had been holding out for a P-8 (1981) version, so by the time this one came up for auction, I thought "what the heck!" & "pulled the trigger." Solomon Islands P-12 $20.00 is also large format & just about as scarce as the first P-8 version. https://en.numista.com/297508

Wow, that's a stunning and difficult note! Congrats on finding it!
I have two banknotes for 1983. First is a Sudan 25 Piastres P-23a. The obverse depicts then-President Gaafar Nimeiry. The reverse displays a bridge connecting Rabak and Kosti across the While Nile River.
My other 1983 banknote is a recent acquisition to my Tonga set, a ½ Pa'anga P-18c of King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV. The reverse has a great scene of coconut workers. This is my oldest Tongan note and my only ½ Pa'anga. It has a little foxing along the edges, but I'm okay with that, as it seems common for this type.

-Thanks @Scopru & CB! P-8 (1981 series) had only 250,000 issued so I suspect mine is a low # 479 too -I really like the notes from Tonga CB: I got a 2 Pa'anga P-26 & a 10 Pa'anga P-28 (from 1992). 1983 My first note is the early polymer trials with this "Bradvek" Isle of Man One Pound P-38 https://en.numista.com/205642 It has a funny thin glossy postcard like feel to it.
Nice notes, walk2dwater, especially the Falkland Islands fiver! Like walk2dwater, I am posting an early polymer note for 1983 - this is an experimental 'Tyvek' 20-Colon note issued by Costa Rica: These notes were not very successful in Costa Rica's hot and humid climate, and the experiment was not repeated. The note bears the portrait of Costa Rican politician Cleto de Jesús González Víquez, who served for two terms as the country's President. The reverse shows an allegory of Justice, holding her scales. This is identical to the design of the standard 'Series C' paper 20-Colon note, but the Tyvek note has a 'Z' prefix. As with the 50-Colon note I posted yesterday, this note was given to me in change in Costa Rica in late 1984 or early 1985. It was the only example I ever saw in decent condition!
