Will only get one Uncirculated Coin Set because the sales numbers have been nosediving for the past 5 years and this price hike will likely make the 2026 sets at least one of the semi-scarce sets. Still it will take a generationor two to recoup my money.
Also will continue with the AI dollars as it is only available from the US Mint.
Finally will get one silver proof set.
Just curtailing to those purchases equals spending about $750 for the year.

I'm just really torn up about this. No way I'm dropping out. But that thought of keeping the 3 subs on the Congrats set? Really doubting that now. I bet a lot of subscribers drop it entirely now. Also, the reasoning behind wanting even a second one seems like a moot point this year, if the Philly proof is only going to be in the Congrats set. So I guess those 2 extras are my hang up at the moment. I was only planning on 1 of everything, except the congrats. Plus the silver proof set and am still thinking about the Uncirculated Gold Eagle.

I only collect silver coins so my US Mint purchases have been the two ASE proofs, the ASE uncirculated W and the Silver Proof Set. I stopped buying Presidential Silver Medals in 2023.

I'll probably buy one of each item I collect, plus an extra Silver Proof set in case I decide to arrange those coins in two different ways.
I'd also like to pick up a couple extra Congrats sets if they become available from people canceling their subscriptions, since I think they'll be a key date coin.
I have a feeling many collectors dropping their subscriptions will regret that decision in the not to distant future.

Why does anybody ever buy from the Mint? Dates are meaningless with regard to modern bullion. The point of this entire game is to buy with as little premium as possible because come time to sell, generally no matter what you have, whether MS70 or MS65, graded or ungraded, all you get is spot less discount.

Why does anybody ever buy from the Mint? An individual can not buy bullion directly from the mint You must not understand the secondary non-bullion market for ASEs, Morgans and Peace dollarsNon-bullion silver coins (Uncirculated / Proofs / Reverse Proofs / Enhanced Versions / Etc.) from the mint tend to sell for much more on the secondary market. The 250th Anniversary ASEs for the Navy, Army, and Marine Corps were priced at $105 from the mint and sold out quickly. The day I bought mine, Pinehurst sent an email stating they were buying them for $180. As of today, the 250th Marine Privy Marked ASE starts at $158 on ebay. The Navy version starts at $160, and the Army version starts at $200. The 2020 v75 Privy Marked Silver Eagle starts at $369. You can get way more than spot for the non-bullion ASEs we are discussing in this topic.

Quote: CDNcoins wrote Is this for real? Why is the standard P&D uncirculated coin sets from last year priced at $124.50? Because they are using the same profit margin formula for all of the coins ill-educated buyers would wonder why a Proof set is only $35 when the Silver Proof Set costs $245 If you think that the general pulic occasional buyers are not that dumb, I have had coin dealers try to sell me Proof sets of quarters as Silver Proof Sets and then they would act as if they didn't know the difference when I would point that out to them

Quote: will regret that decision in the not to distant future. I, for one, will not regret my decision to stop buying ASEs from the mint. I do regret the fact that the mint's recent price gouging is taking advantage of the customers that have supported it for years. This topic is not new. There have been several topics about the mint raising their prices in the last year or two. My main issue is the $173 for the new proofs. When you subtract $93 to $95 for a 1 oz silver planchet how do they justify charging $75 to $80 to produce a coin from that planchet? I have boxes full of ASE proofs that I bought for less than $75.

To be clear, it is the C&C sets I like. I have not bought any of the solo medals.
