Quote: Why does anybody ever buy from the Mint? Dates are meaningless with regard to modern bullion. As was described, there are stackers, who yes are wise to try to find the best deal they can (without getting caught in some scam). These stackers often "like" to get silver eagles, but will often get rounds out bars just as easily, is the deal is there. I did this myself probably about 10 years ago. Then I started buying new silver eagles when the price was right. Then got hooked on the proofs and reverse proofs, for myself quite a collection. I still want to keep the set current. So for the last 5 years it so just get them from the Mint. I know I could, in some cases,I could probably buy a proof I need cheaper. But there is just something about getting a silver eagle direct from the Mint, so that's what I do. Some issues do sell out as well, so the ol FOMO kicks in and there I am with everyone else on drop day. We all buy for different reasons, far be it for anyone to tell someone else what and how to collect.

My views come from the perspective of a Mint Sets collector, versus a collector of the individual denominations. I've not purchased multiple sets year after year so I could break one up to fill holes in an album ( I respect the collectors who do so ). I've been a long term subscriber to the UNC, PRF, SILV PRF sets . I usually get one of each and have for many, many years. I moved to two of each anticipating the double-dating and one-year-only designs would make the 2026 issues more valuable down the road. I also saw the historical mintage quantities on these sets trending downward and expected the mint to produce fewer sets, contrary to the expectations of many that the SQ year would see the USM increase production to meet numismatic and general public demand. Barring another round of price increases, a set of 1 each Uncirculated, Proof, and Silver Proof sets will set you back $476.50, before shipping charges. That's the amount of money I wouldn't spend with the USM if I reduce my current subscription QTY on those from 2 to 1. Since none are due to ship until Spring or Summer, I'll stand pat for now. I'll follow discussions on the CCF and elsewhere re: the projected values of these sets. I won't change my subscriptions to the ASE's. By the way: I'm not in the camp that believes: The 2025 Lincoln cents were "the last Lincoln cents." The 2026 cents included in the annual USM sets appear to be the true last examples . . Enjoy your day.

I'm wondering since many of the coins in the uncirculated P and D set are one year only designs (which is reasoning behind the large jump in price) do you think the mint would lower the price on 2027 sets..... ? Edited: maybe I should have held out wondering until December...

Wonder what the cost would be to buy all the items from the mint this year. Forget $173 silver, 1 oz of gold will cost you $5500. There are eagles, buffalos, FIFA commems and all the 250 gold. Rough estimates would put that at north of $40K I think.

I have a feeling this will be the new normal price since they raised the price of their older mint sets they still had in stock as well They have us over a barrel with anyone that wants to get the Lincoln Cent by only including it in the mint set and then jack the price way up, not just a slight increase but almost four times the price. And you know the secondary market is going to price them way high, probably as much as the whole mint set since that is the only way to get them. It's going to make the 2025 cent prices look cheap. This whole greedy price increase has left a black mark on the 250th SemiQ celebration for me. Very disappointing to get priced out of just trying to collect the current coins to continue my collections.

The Mint's greed and price gouging on clad coinage is disgusting, even more so during the 250th. Truly a slap in the face to numismatists.

Quote: C&C refers to the Coins & Chronicles Sets. I'm glad I bought these earlier, the Silver Presidential Medals of T. Roosevelt, F.D.R., Truman, Eisenhower, J.F.K., Johnson & G. W. Bush are included. I can skip the 2027, Johnson & Bush issues and save a little $. With my luck they will change something with these Medals and make my OCD kick in and force me to buy them.

I have Ike and Bush Sr C&Cs sets in a binder and I add their bronze medals to fill the last hole even though it is the same as the silver medal. I had to buy them on the secondary market so I don't know what the original prices were. If they do new sets, the new pricing may not be as much of a shock to me

2026 is going to be an expensive year with the mint, and probably my last.
I have some nice stuff. It was a good run...
