I recently received a Tomlov coin scope and was wondering if there is a book that would get me started on what to look for on coins. Thanks!

You can probably get yourself a " CherryPickers Guide" or two....
I currently own the 6th Edition of Volume I, II, & III.
. . . Good Luck!

1. If you can't see it without using maximum magnification, it's usually trivial and not worth anything.

2. Second the CherryPicker's guide - most of the one listed can be spotted with a 5x or 10x loupe.

If it has a digital screen attached to it remember not to post any screen pictures.

Well you picked a nice scope - same one I use.

It's great, so far I haven't used the two lights that are flexible. Nice clear picture and it gets real close.

My experience with books has been mixed. I have found that Wexler and Variety Vista are much more productive for learning what to look for, especially combined with PCGS plate coins.

Did you have a particular denomination in mind?

I collect Morgans, Mercury dimes and Standing Liberty quarters. I have a lot of wheat pennies, rolls of 1968S pennies also.

Yes, the sites are often updated with new information. Books require a new edition.

Nothing against books though. I am still impressed seeing a good library.

Well the CherryPickers Guide arrived today, slight damage on the corners and bad damage to the binder. When I picked the package up off the porch I didn't know one end was not sealed and the book slide out and hit the concrete! Going to return it and the replacement will not arrive until March 4th!

I found a solution to my narrow field, but mine has a desk clamp swing arm.
And I moved it from the desk to a neighboring shelf that is about 9" higher.
If the shelf above weren't blocking it, I could go even higher. But as it is, I've got about 14.5" between the lens and the desk, 4" higher than when it was clamped to the desk.
That yields a field 87x48mm. Not big enough for a 5 ozt round, but that's what cameras are for.
