Thought this was worth sharing. Hope everyone feels the same. I am now down to one hole to fill in my decades long 7070 album effort, (not counting the gold page, which I should have paid more attention to before the recent run-up. ) This Shield nickel has been a challenge to find in the condition I favor. One finally showed up at auction, and I jumped on it (read: overpaid ). But it's only dirty cash and the budget will eventually recover after a few more ebay listings. These are seller's photos. Pretty good images sold me on this coin. Hope y'all enjoy. One more non-Au challenge to go. When I find time and can arrange a better photo set-up, I will post the whole album. Best of luck to those still working on this tough project.

So, when you get that Nickel, your 7070 be complete? Dang! That's quite the accomplishment! Sadly, mine is only about half complete (45/76th), heh! And I'm afraid there are several holes I'll never fill.
Congratulations, that's some dedication!

Congratulations! Nice coin! It's also got a reverse Cud as well to boot.

Quote: So, when you get that Nickel, your 7070 be complete? No, the album still lacks one liberty Seated quarter with arrows. I am fairly fussy about what goes into this collection. High grade xf-au with some luster is the minimum ideal. Some upgrades still needed to match that condition; mostly in the early copper/bronze slots. Plus there is the daunting challenge of the gold page, which has four holes to fill. The 7070 has taken ~20 years to get where it is now. It's been a fun journey, but with gold prices at an all time high, I am not in spending mode right now. When I get my photo set-up squared away, I will post the whole thing.

Wonderful coin...nice strike I've been looking to fill that spot for about a year now but got side tracked with the large and Half Cents. Can't wait (guess I'll have to ) to see your album...must be fantastic.

Beautiful! Stunning Shield nickel! Wish my 1867 looked that good! Also, I think I personally prefer the "with rays" design. Just looks better IMO.

Fantastic nickel, mysilveryears! I need one for my 7070 and looked at a coin show this weekend. Not a single one met my standards - not even the slabbed ones. Congratulations on the acquisition and completion of your Type Set!
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

One of the prestige design done, I liked this before the rays was removed. Hope you get that Seated quarter with arrows soon. I just need to upgrade the one's I have in my 7070, but I haven't actively seeking lately.

Now THAT is an outstanding example for your 7070 album. congrats. I wish mine looked that great.. Quote:(not counting the gold page, which I should have paid more attention to before the recent run-up. ) yeah, tell me about it.. Quote: Best of luck to those still working on this tough project. Thanks (I have 25 coins to go on a 7070 project that is so far spanning 5 years) of course no counting the gold page - so that will sit empty for a while longer due to prices.

Quote: I personally prefer the "with rays" design. Just looks better IMO. I totally agree. I wonder if the rays were removed to improve the strikes. Nickel is a much harder metal than silver or copper. Note the prominent die cracks on the coin I bought. Quote: I wish I had started something like this when I was young. I started this album project before my hair turned silver, but I was far from young. At a younger age I would not have had the financial means even to buy the album, let alone fill it. Quote: I haven't actively seeking lately. I was not actively seeking this coin; just stumbled upon the listing while doing some random internet browsing. So the coin sort of found me.. Quote: I have 25 coins to go on a 7070 project Priorities, priorities. I am sure some of those holes will fill easily if you put on a search. Of course the higher your grade standard, the slower they will appear. I have a loose xtra high grade SLQ if that would help you. Quote: Congratulations on the acquisition and completion of your Type Set! Thanks, Hondo, but it's not quite there yet. See above posts.
