British 2011 £2 coin showing King Henry VIII's flagship, the Mary Rose: Launched in 1511, the Mary Rose sank in the Solent in 1546. The hull was discovered in 1971 and was raised in a spectacular operation in 1982 and is now on display in a special museum in Portsmouth, together with some of the amazing artefacts found on board, a real Tudor time capsule.

Canada 1 Dollar 1979 - Le Griffon was a 45-ton barkentine built in 1679 by Rene-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle, to navigate the upper Great Lakes for the fur trade. It was the first full-sized European sailing ship to travel Lakes Erie, Huron, and Michigan. It vanished in September 1679 with six crew members and a cargo of furs, becoming a legendary mystery.
