Lising description:
"Very, very scarce, almost unique maybe. Detail grade on a Morgan that was sealed by the GSA after many decades of storage. Could not find another after a fairly deep search.0
Scuff is evident beneath the jaw.
Cheek is very clean. Well struck with full breast feathers. Very nice contrast."

Thank you for adding the link for me. It's not my listing, just a curiosity I came across.

Let's be clear this is not a 'Mint Sealed' product.
This coin, along with millions of other Morgans, was stored in bags when the General Services Administration (GSA) decided to sell them to the public between 1972 and 1980.
There were seven separate sales offerings across those years.
The vast majority of the GSA Morgans were uncirculated CC mint coins.
The GSA encapsulated this coin in that holder, not the Mint. It was eventually sent to CAC grading who evaluated the coin and placed their grade sticker on the original GSA holder.

I've never had a GSA Holder. Are they as easy to open as USM Proof Sets?

Quote: I've never had a GSA Holder. Are they as easy to open as USM Proof Sets? The GSA holder is tightly sealed. You have to break or cut the hard plastic in order to get it open.

No, you don't see that every day. In fact, this is a first for me. The only explaination coming to mind is one that was in circulation at some point and returned only to find it's way into one of those bags.

Quality for the dollars obviously was variable. I assume some of the coins in the original bags picked up abrasions from the other coins or the canvas bag fabric that would look like brush marks, before they were sealed in the GSA holders. Apparently "brushed, obverse" is the description for this coin that CAGC deemed most appropriate.
