I'm creating a list of what would make a comprehensive type set of 1 OUNCE Gold Eagles

So far this is what I have.

1986 MCMLXXXVI Brilliant Uncirculated

2006 20th Anniversary Set
• Burnished
• Proof
• Reverse Proof

2021 Type 2 Brilliant Uncirculated

2026 Dual Date Enhanced Uncirculated

I'm only interested in 1 ounce eagles, have I missed any?

Only one glaring at me would be a type 2 proof.
The V75, but they only made what 1945ish of those? I'm not sure if that counts as a type. Not a finish type. Depends on who's counting.

"If I were a rich man", one intriguing gold eagle collecting aspect are the early sets, before they had 4 fractional sets, they had a believe a 2 coin set, 1oz and half oz I believe. Trying to remember if they had a 3 coin as well, I mean fractional.
But yes the 20th Anniversary gold set knocks out a bunch of types.
Still very excited about the EU, got under 2 months of waiting. Sure hope I actually get it, man that would be a bummer to get all excited over it and then not get get it on order day!
Could get the 10th Anniversary set and get all the proof fractionals, as well as the obvious.

I looked at the V75 but $20k for an ounce of gold is not something I can internally justify

Exactly, that's the really rich collectors kind of money. Luckily nothing like that exists in the ASE world, the only thing marginally in that realm are the silver eagle at dusk and dawn series, but that's a graded item, so I take exception to that immediately.

I need to find a way to store them that accessable becuse I like to look at my collection occasionally

I normally use CAPs Pages in a binder and I don't that is fitting for a collection of coins valued at about $30k

I decided to go with the 2006 Silver Eagle OGP box

It has generic US Mint markings, nothing that specifically indicates it's for Silver Eagles

I plan to use H size Air Tite Capsules with 32mm black rings for my AGEs

The H capsule is slightly smaller than US Mint ASE capsule so it will be easy to remove them.

I considered the Gold Eagle box but it has a glossy piano finish with a concave top, bad for stacking

The Silver Eagle box has a flat leatherette top which should stack nicely

I got 3 for $43 shipped which should pretty much cover my Type set with 1 case for future releases

That sounds like a plan.
Just a few observations, and I have these sets in OGP.
The 3 coin silver and 2 coin silver & gold have that same type of inner box with that padded lid. I had problems with that weird pad they put on there. It seems like it degrades with time and sort of crumbles on the edge, or it starts lifting on the edge. When it is all in good shape, great, looks fine.
You don't have that on the 3 coin gold set, I like that box, not yes not flat, it's curvy. But no fragile pad to worry about.
Which brings me to another thought.
With what I'd perceive as a "fragile at best" top pad on the 3 coin silver box, I'd be tempted to stack those inside the outer box, to make sure they stay looking nice, if you managed to get 3 good boxes (I went through 3 to finally get a good one!).
So if they need to be boxed to keep them in shape, night as well get the 3 coin gold boxes, put them in the outer box, and then they'll stack anyways.

Are you talking about the external pad on the top of the box that looks like wood grained leather?

The seller I bought them from stated that they are in mint condition

If you need another, he has them listed for $9.95 each

Yes, kinda of odd stuff, but yes that pad.
Mainly the beading around the perimeter of that pad likes to lose pieces, little parts flaking or breaking off. Plus that "wood grain" look describes it pretty well, doesn't look like leather, but the initial impression is it's supposed to be? Maybe certain a type of leather or hide looks like that and it's not very common.
I'll pull mine out sometime and review it. I think I finally got a good one, it only needed one side of the pad glued down because it was pulling up. I believe I still have an old one or two I saved, I should be able to show examples of what they do.
I still maintain that whatever you use is this series will need to be boxed to protect the lid, and typically you get the outer OGP box, so you "could" use the 3 coin gold set box as well, and is a less finicky lid as far as keeping it looking nice. Maybe the 3 coin silver boxes all hate my guts, who could blame them, in very opinionated about them.

Nice video, I haven't seen the 2 coin sets yet

As easy as that pad comes off you could replace it in a variety of ways with wood, plastic or metal

Any panel you use could be engraved by laser or conventional methods at any trophy shop

There are plenty of images on the internet that you could use for the engraving

My main point for you (you could tell I made the video, mainly to point out to you the problems I've found) is the pads are really pretty fragile. I think they are getting worse with age, like that one really nasty looking one. I don't think I'd use that (inner) box without having it inside the outer box. It's protected then and definitely stackable.
So, just looking at it from that standpoint, it might make more sense to go with the 3 gold set OGP as the holders are already made for the 1 oz OGP gold capsules and the clamshell doesn't have the pads. It's the curved lid, but just box it like you'd want to do with the other type of box.
But yes your clothes just reglue the pad or have a custom type of insert made.
I did look at the box I actually have my 3 coin silver in, it looks fine, I did glue down one edge, but you can't tell, I have a good inner box, the outer box leaves a little to be desired, but I mentioned on my video, you have to draw the line somewhere.

Impressive! Be sure to post up pics when you get that. I thought I paid a lot several years ago, I can only imagine what 3 ounces set you back now!
