Because you watched Avatar the movie and thought it was set in ancient Persia?

As per your welcome thread. Maybe because you spent time in Iran.

triggersmob, not only are you in the right ball park but your on 3rd base heading for home!

Thanks for stopping by and not only stopping by but staying long enough to nearly hit a home run!

Greasy Fingers as I told Keith67 in my post of an old German Token, "I'm kinda dense at times (well, most of the time) and you'll have a explain your comment".

I do notice that you haven't washed your fingers after eating an obvious really good piece of Pizza.

Congrats to both of you for reaching the status, "Pillers of the Community!"

Thanks again and have a great day!!!!

Thanks again guys, I greatly appreciate the comradery

Hey triggers mob, thanks for your uplifting comment and the link to YouTube and the John Fogerty song "Centerfield" ! I listened to the whole song which brought back memories of 1985 when I was just 41 years old!

John Fogerty sure made the comeback with that song after some years of not recording.

Thanks again and have aday!!

Just a strange reference to/for Pie Town (I remember from an earlier post of yours). Made me think of piazza. Also washing my hands doesn't help, fingers are permanently stained from my other hobby of close to 40 years (restoration of early model Mustangs)

OK, here's the story:

I was in Iran for a year, 1974-75 employed by Bell Helicopter International as an Instructor pilot for the military cadets in Isfahan; don't go putting knots on my head on account of today's conflict with Iran as back then the US & Iran were good ol' buddy-buddies!

One evening I was in the studio of the Armenian artist Yearvand ordering some of his beautiful pen sketches on ancient parchment when....

An elderly gentleman walked in carrying a large canvas bag.

He poured the contents, over a hundred Rupees, onto the counter; with my jaw down around my Adam's Apple, I asked if I could buy one.

Yearvand fingered thru the pile and came up with my avatar! (Of course I didn't know that at that time) and said, this is very rare and you can have it for 90 American.

I paid him the $90 US dollars and have treasured that ornate silver coin ever since, believing I had a treasure.

I've attempted on occasion to ID my treasure to no avail until about 2 months ago when I stumbled upon an online Coin Dealer in Paris.

He immediately ID'ed my Rupee as a Persian Rupee, with the following info:

Avatar.-What's-The-Meaning-Of-An-Avatar?

He said that in today's Market the Rupee is worth about what I paid for it but that in a good Auction it might fetch as much as $125.00......so much for my treasure!

Reckon I'll be changing my avatar pretty soon!
