Holy canola oil trying to understand what I just read.
So Machine damaged is the same thing as
Machine Doubling? And 'strong
Machine Doubling' means it's more evident.
Which happens during the striking of the coin due to movement basically.
I'm assuming 'devices' means the parts of the image?
Machine damage aka
Machine Doubling will make the 'devices' smaller in size and the reduced part will be flattened.
What confuses me in one sentence it says, note how the devices are close to the same size, and then note how it reduces the devices, machine damage always reduces the devices but note how how they are the same size. Huh?
It changes wording from
Machine Doubling to Machine Doubled? Is that the same thing, just a third way to say it?
When it says machine damage happened after the strike, what machine is it referring to? The die or something? But then it refers to a die double?
So we have
machine damage
Machine damage doubling
Mechanical Doubling Strike Doubling Machine Doubling (makes devices smaller)
Shelf doubling
Sheer doubling
Field doubling
Shift doubling
Ejection doubling
Machine Doubling on incursed
Machine doubled
Machine doubled incursed
All means the same? - but it says flat field doubling is with
Machine Doubling? Note how flat field doubling in one area creates
Machine Doubling in other areas. Like what? So flat field doubling isn't
Machine Doubling?
We also have to include
Machine push doubling
But these below are different but still meaning the same to each other? I gleened hub doubled and
Machine Doubling is the same thing thing just different ways to express if it's larger or smaller? And push to to say it bounced etc etc the changes in words it to say how did moved.
Hub doubled (makes devices larger)
Hub doubled die
Hub doubling
And die doubling or rather a double die, is another thing altogether.
*Note how hub doubling is often accompanied with MD
Machine damage push
Machine damage on altering
Machine Doubling happens when the die strikes the coin and there is instability, however the
Machine Doubling happens after its been striked?
Note how MD is flatted also note how MD is contoured and not flattened.
Note proof coins are struck twice and normal coins aren't, then note on normal coin how the doubling happens after the 'initial strike' is it one or two.
Note how doubling happens after the strike, almost at the same time but a bit later, ok.
Machine Doubling on altering the devices?
Bear with me here, I think I'm getting it slowly, I have little chance identify the differences yet however I think I'm getting my head around it.
What I've gleened this far.. BTW that was painful lol
The die might for whatever reason have two images on it and I don't know why it would but that's cool and the images repeat the effect consistently and that's sought after.
Machine Doubling is the machine holding the die and it let the die move for whatever reason and it creates a Double effect as well, however this can happen and it's not an error as such more like. Can't win em all scenario and therefore anyone who is savvy doesn't really want that as much, because its a random thing and easily done.
So using what I learnt am I correct to call this ....
Machine Doubling more specifically hub doubling.
I think some of my questions I answered myself as I wrote this tome.but if there is anything I've got completely backwards let me know
