Have the same thing with mine as is MS-64 or better wonder if it's a mint error since so many people are finding them

This oldtimer's seen a few of these nickels over the years. While I've no clue as to the maker's intent, they sure are eye-catching odd-balls. While I don't recall ever having one of these, I did have a side-show collection of coin objects and oddities. The subject coin would've fit comfortably therein. BTW to the CCF!

My big question do I send it off to PCGS to get graded as a possible mint error as I know that will cost a bit more but wonder if it would be worth it as it's in very good to about unc condition

Is your Jefferson nickel displaying the same BB on both sides, or individual BBs?

to the CCF, Chinzel006. This is most definitely NOT a mint error. Most likely these holes were caused by a drill. Also, your coin seems to be in the F-VF range, not MS-64.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

It is PMDNo way for that to happen when the coin was struck. Looks someone has drilled a hole in the coin and inserted a BB or small ball bearing.

I agree as well. Not an error.
Errers and Varietys.

to CCF @Chinzel006 Interesting that you found one of these defaced (de-eyed?) nickels too.

As being in construction I can't see any way a drill would do that without punching through or leaving a trace thy was drilled just seems fishy that there are alot floating around

Quote: As being in construction I can't see any way a drill would do that without punching through or leaving a trace A Machinist will differ. If you notice a larger hole was drilled through the coin and then the BB was "cemented" into the hole.............a simple procedure.........

Quote: Nail set? "Center Punch" - but if you shorten your drill bit in the chuck and lower the drill speed it won't wander.
