Here's the beginnings of my Dansco 8176 Dansco album...

I have more on the way. Also have some of the Clad Proofs but they are still in the OGP, need to wait until I have more albums to place them or some 2x2's for the other coins.

You have a great start going on there. Great looking coins and nice album. When you finish you will be proud of that set. I know I would be.

Seamonkey, for what it's worth, you can buy Ike dollars individually or in P&D pairs, without buying the entire mint set. Search for " Ike dollar cello eisenhower".
Unless you want the whole set, naturally. I have a Mint Set collection, but I wouldn't want to break most of them up for albums.

Thanks all!

I collect all denominations so it's actually cheaper to get the whole set and divide it up. If I only had interest in the one then I would get them individually. I feel kinda bad breaking them up but I'm sure it is done quite often and they would just sit in a box and I'd never look at them again. This way they are in an album I can thumb through.

Copy that, Seamonkey. I've just begun my Ike album. Well, I've got four coins I'm sure I'll want to upgrade. But I have on order from Denver 1974, 76, and 77. My Mint Sets will remain unscathed, heh!

And who knows? Maybe cannibalization will one day make them more desirable. Not in my remaining years, of course.

Awesome, Seamonkey. I noticed, like you previously mentioned about finding a used album on ebay, that ours are both very similar in appearance. Slightly older Dansco.

Good start.
I am wondering what route you'll take in terms of filling up the album?

Will you do any of the silver business strikes or silver proofs yet? Or will you wait on that? Or, just purchase whatever you find for a good deal?

For the most part, the silver coins in the Ike series can still be had for pretty reasonable prices compared to other expensive silver coins. Then again, they are only 40% silver, so that could also factor in compared to larger coins that are 90% silver like half dollars or older, large dollars.

Actually I have a 72 silver proof coming I will do them all eventually if I can find a good deal. I'm way over budget this month but I can't stop myself Alot of the proofs especially in the OGP are hazy, so I'll avoid anyone selling with stock photos or didn't show the actual coin. I may even crack out some graded ones if the price is right or at least not too far from the raw ones. Although I do want to eventually put together a graded set so I won't be looking for MS66 or MS67 more like an MS65 or MS64 for the silver. All depends on the deal I can find.

Awesome. I look forward to seeing your progress. That is quite a bold task. As much as I would love to collect high grade/slabbed coins, unless it's a key date, they are kind of out of budget personally.

But, all the power to you if you can make it happen!

That's just something in the distant future and it won't be any top pop ultra high grade ones. Just something to dream about.

Yep! I get it. I, too, would love to have a collection of nice slabbed coins. Then I look at my bills and my bank account says "noooooo".

It was not as difficult as I always thought it would be.
