Wondering if this "2" on obverse is an error or post circulation stamp. It resembles the mints #2.

That is definitely a counterstamp that someone applied to the coin after it left the mint.

Not an error of any kind, just a counterstamp which is considered damage
although some people do collect them.

First welcome to CCF. Second, with regard to the shape of the number 2, it suggests to me that this counterstamp was more likely placed on this coin soon after minting (as opposed to more recently), but I agree that it wasn't put there by the US mint.
