Hello there, I was wondering if you could please tell me if this nickles was spray painted? Or could this nickles have been struck on a different planchette?. I'm new to the hobby. Any information from pros as yourselves. Would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Just a heavily worn and damaged Buffalo nickel. The date area easily wore down with circulation wear.

Your coin has been acid treated to restore the date. The acid gives the treated surfaces a pitted or frosted look.

And, it appears some subtle toning has taken place--not uncommon. Metals can tone when exposed to various environmental agents.

I agree, the nickel has toned and someone acid treated date area.

Looks like a correct and completely normal planchet. As noted by others above, the coin has wear, toning, and an acid restored date (probabky Nic-a-date).
