It's common and I would grade this VG and priced about $20. However, I'm not a expert and new to this.

I would grade this as VG-10 with a shot at F-12, whats nice about this coin is that there is no sign that it has been cleaned. $20 would be about right for value.

That's nice. I've never seen one of those before. I just started collecting liberty coins, though.
Where did you get it?

Looks close to VF to me. I'd go F15 for sure. They do bring about $20 to $25.

Detail is that of a VF. I can't tell if the marks on the cheekbone and through the lips are damge or just mottled toning. I also can't tell if the surfaces are just dark or lightly porous. Assuming it is just dark toning I would give it a net grade of F-12. If it is porous or that is damage on the cheekbone or lips then the grade would probably drop to a net Good.

And to answer your question of it being rare, its not really that rare having 6,651,131 minted. Very nice coin though. I'd give it either a VF-20, or a F-12 ranging its value somewhere from $25-$35.

The coin looks problem free with nice eye appeal. The ebony tone of these early 100% copper Large Cents is common as well as this date. F-15 and around $20.

a few weeks ago I picked up an 1853 large cent at a coin store in Portland, Maine for about $40. It is definitly one of my favorite coins. You are lucky to have this one in good condition.
