Looks like the hunt is on for coins that are "good" enough for Napoleon31ft's collection. I assume that damage doesn't cut it, you are looking for honest wear. I'll keep an eye out for coins that I think will meet your critical standards. Good luck with your collection and please keep us posted. I also suggest an old Whitman folder to keep them in so they can eventually take on that nice "cartwheel" tone that is so attractive on coins stored for years in folders.

Are the dates and MM on a morgan readable out to FR-02 or even P-01?

You decide.

Low-Grade-Morgan-Set

Here's one of mine; I suspect it'd be a slam dunk at P01 if it slabbed:

PCGS has a Set Registry category for lowballs. It's a Circulation Strikes with Mintmarks set, encompassing 97 coins:

So far, Mad Marty (those of you who know him would understand why it'd have to be *him*) holds the all-time finest set, complete at an average grade of 2.26. He's since retired and liquidated it, if I recall.

This may indeed start a new trend. I morgan set may actually be afordable at this grade. I think a well worn morgan set would be cool, knowing they fully served their purpose in circulation and have since retired to your collection.

Yotie.
I really like that coin.
To me it is cool to think about all of the places it has been. How many people have touched it. Or maybe it was in someones pocket everywhere they went. And then, where did they go?

Compared to the Buffalo nickel, where an F-12 coin might not have a date.

just_carl will tell you what other things those people were touching.

I've heard of folks doing these sort of sets, and now I might officially be inspired.

Great idea,I've been collecting the Morgans for a while now and I love them all. It's the history behind them. The majority of mine are AU which I bought years back from a company that sells coins.Today as I'm a bit wiser I feel I paid too much for the coins but they are beautiful.I have a cc in vg ,dirty, but it's a coin unique to my small collection.
