I bought a 1919 d quarter today and I think by RedBook standards it has to be in the middle of EF and AU. Should I have it slabbed? I am going to a coin show that does that soon so I was wondering If I should. I have never slabbed a coin before. I also have an EF 1926 S Buffalo that I was wondering if I should have slabbed. Just to get some feedback please. Thanks
Rest in Peace

IMO, unless you feel the coin is not authenic for some reason why slab it? If you want opinions about the grade you can post it here. I personally see no reason to slab coins like this. Just my opinion.

I generally consider TPG when the coins value is at least $150. Your coins value well exceed this. My answer would be yes, have them slabbed for long term protection as well as the FMV of your coins.

Please post images of both coins if possible. If your coins are damaged, cleaned, or otherwise have problems it might be a waste of money sending them for grading. If they look original and are undamaged I think their value justifies grading, both to confirm authenticity and to possibly improve the selling price if you choose to put them on the market sometime.

My camera doesn't take good pictures so you can't see detail. I am sure the coins are authentic and there is no damage. I wish I could get you guys a picture. I think that the Grade I gave was modest so I think it might be accurate. I will try to get some pictures up. I do not intend on selling them since I do not have others for my set.

Which coin show and what grading service will be represented? If these coins are the grade that you are thinking, I would recommend PCGS for the best value. Again, prior to submission, you need to be sure there aren't any problems, but I would go with them. At this point it doesn't really matter if you're selling or not, it's more a matter of preservation in my opinion. Maybe the booth can take a cursory look for you to see if there are any problems prior to handing them over.

As a side note, even if you chose not to post pictures here, I would highly recommend taking very good pictures of the coin prior to any submission for your records. You don't need a crazy camera set up either. Get a tripod and even a 4mp camera and play with some desk lamps for a few minutes and you will probably get some pretty good shots.

Thanks for the help. It will be the NGC at the Baltimore Whitman expo but I think PGCS will be there in November. Thanks for the help, I guess I will go ahead and get them graded.
