Nic Pillar of the Community Philippines 1156 Posts	Posted 07/21/2009 12:03 am The years '06 (morgan) and '51 (peace) dates are particulary special for me, have been looking through ebay and other image site uploads but could not locate these years. On US Coin Facts, it appears there really was no issue? Why was it, no dollar coins for these two year dates? Thanks! Report this Post to the Staff

biokemist6 Bedrock of the Community United States 12437 Posts	Posted 07/21/2009 12:16 am No Morgans were minted between 1905 and 1920 due to overflowing Treasury vaults. They were produced for one more year in 1921 while technical difficulties were worked out with the Peace design. The reason for the resumed minting was a need to have hard assets to back the new silver certificates. The Peace design was minted from 1921-28 and 1934-35 and once again discontinued due to lack of demand(public acceptance of new silver certificates) and sufficient numbers on hand. The Peace dollar would see one more minting in 1964, around 400,000 were produced at Denver but never released and were then subsequently melted due to the removal of silver from coinage.
