Im kind of confused. I acknowledge the mens gold hockey coin (normal and colourized versions) as mentioned above..this came out at exactly the same time as the collector card from petro canada. Now I was just a petro canada earlier today, and now theres a simular womens gold medal hockey collector card out...on the back it says number 13/15. Does this mean RCM is going to release another colourized coin, and specific to the coin medal winning? For those who collect the collector coins, I dont even see a womens hockey on the checklist card. This is really getting confusing. My cross referencing back, shows all that is left for releasing is a coin that represents a silver medal or bronze, and the sledge hockey.

What they were going to release was 15 Olympic quarters: 12 showing sports and 3 Olympic Moments coins. Sledge Hockey is one of the 12, while the womans hockey coin is one of the "Moments" coins. Still to come is Cindy Klasen in the "Moments" coins and the afore menitoned Sledge Hockey

I think I have been lucky. I got a total of 3 rolls, and have got 27 colourized coins- 9,7,11 in the 3 rolls. Of the 27, 25 are the common issue. 1 is the scarce raised, non countersunk, and 1 is the appearantly doubled, which shows at the top to top right of the last 2. ( I use a 10x hand held, under an illuminated, double magnifier together for about 20x magnification.) All came from the same bank- I think I will be getting a few more rolls there. I also got, on the 10th, a women's hockey, colourized, but already heavily circulated- scratched, wear on the cheek and dressline, plus a breast cancer, (spot worn in centre of ribbon)in change from my neighbourhood grocery store. I will update as I get more coins.

I picked up 2 more rolls today. There were 12 colourized coins in each roll- a total of 24, of which 7 were the raised date, 17 were the countersunk date, including 1 countersunk date with what looks like ejection die doubling at the top right of the second 2 (different from the die chip I wrote about yesterday, which is much more prominant at the top right, but which extends across most of the top), and a countersunk date which looks like it has been flattened into the top right of the countersunk area by the machinery used to print the colours (there are also small globs of colour/glue/? in the immedate area. One of the normal dates has no detail on the left-most boot and the first 2 is almost flat, and on the obverse the tops of the IZ of ELizabeth are flattened. The surface around both of these areas towards the rim is also pocked- I would suggest some cleaning fluid that was not vaporized, if that is used for cleaning. I also picked up 1 roll of the women's hockey, and only got 1 colourized in the whole roll!

I am inclined to believe that there may be far less colourized coins per roll this time around, than in that the mens. At least at this point of time anyway I went into a Royal Bank last week to pump up some RRSP contributions and once I finished with the guy, I asked him if I can have a couple examples of the colourized version of this newest coin. We walked over to where the tellers are, and behind them was a small bowl with some 1/2 rolls and loose coins. He told me that 'there's no red ones', at which time I replied they are mixed in within the rolls. He ripped apart a few 1/2 rolls that was sitting in the bowl, and he wasnt able to find any. He asked the tellers in the immediate area if they have seen any, and they replied no they have all been 'silver' (Obviously none of them collect coins). I wondered right then and there why were there so many 1/2 rolls, and no one has seen any? I jokingley advised him I think your tellers are scooping them all up. The next day when I got home from work, I got a email from this same bank rep, saying he found a couple for me, and he has them in his office if Id like to come back and get them. When I went back the next day to get them, he said he had to open a number of rolls to find them. No other details, as he had someone in his office and I had to go anyway. I wonder whats up with all that.

I got my 9 rolls from the same RBC in south Surrey, BC they seem to be about the same maybe a little less than the men's. I went through all 9 rolls I got 50 coloured coins and made a gem roll of the plain nickle coins all ms-65+. I sent 4 coins in for grading 1 each of the men's and women's plain and coloured that I think made the grade of ms-66+ I'll know in 3 weeks time.

I got another group of 4 rolls of the men's- found 19 colourized coins in 4 rolls, which include 2 of the raised date on leg variety. I also got 4 rolls of women's hockey, which included a total of 15 colourized coins. Both totals are somewhat lower than the supposed average, if I can count on 3 million colourized mixed in with 19 million plain, for a total issue of 22 million. Average should be about 6 per roll. The mens rolls that I got came in with somewhat over that average.

I got 2 more rolls of Men's and 2 rolls of Women's today. In the Men's I found 10 colourised, including 1 raised 2 and 1 Diechip doubled 2, and in the women's I found 7 colourised. Is anyone still counting totals?

Sorry to have to add this. In one of the Momen's rolls was a 2009 regular Caribou 25 Cents. The condition is superb- the reflective fields are very lightly and evenly frosted, leading me to think it must be from new dies. There are no signs of circulation- very few places where there have been marks left by contact with other coin rims. I believe it came from the mint like this, without trying to say it was a bank employee fooling around. The plastic wrap showed no signs of being forced , and the coin was in the middle of the roll. Interesting!

Why does the current issue of Canadian Coin News state on the front page that the engraved 2 variety is the rarer one and the raised 2 more common?I think there'll be a retraction next issue.

Quote from Mint spokesman Alex Reeves; the colourised coin with an engraved 2 in the commemorative date "2002" over the player's leg has a mintage of just 200,000 coins. Making it (the engraved)version the lowest mintage of modern circulation 25 cent piece. I think the others the raised 2 where a mistake and not even supposed to be painted?

From the article in CCN Quote: While 19 million plain coins were produced,a total of three million colourized coins were produced with 200,000,or less than seven per cent,of them being the engraved 2 design. I think that from what has been found by those posting here, about 7% are of the raised variety

For those who haven't see this picture. This should help out in the descriptions of this variety. If true then how many of the painted raised are there? Probably the mint doesn't even know them selves.
