Page 31 of the most recent Canadian Coin News (Jan 5th-18th) mentions that the RCM is claiming that the 'engraved 2' is the scarce variety. Only 200,000 of them struck That being said, then wouldn't #2 from the previous post, not be the common variety then? Canadian Coin news received a fleury of communications from collectors, after they originally reported the same thing in the previous issue. All the emails they have received from collectors state that everyone is having a much harder time trying to locate a 'raised 2' variety. (Including myself) I must say reports are all over the board on this one. All I know is, I'm not getting rid of any of them until the jury makes a ruling on this.

Same I only found 2 coloured raised 2's out of 9 rolls and 1 raised 2 in the Petro Canada service station cards series.

Just gets more confusing all the time, I read the posts here and my own experience was 1 roll 5 colored think they are all raised 2. If the raised is the less scarce it would fit better with my usual luck.

I got another 2 rolls of mens- 10 colourized, with 1 being the raised type, 9 sunken.
The "raised 2" is definately the scarcer type- 200,000 sounds just about what was predicted, The "countersunk 2" is definately the more common type of colouized men's quarter.

Has anyone considered that the RCM has not even come close to releasing all of the Men's Hockey stock? They say that the FIRST 200,000 were the engraved 2 so it would make perfect sense that these are appearing more. Wait a few months and watch the engraved type dry up. They also claim the raised 2 is the only-non colour variety and seem to be bang on for that.

I agree with you TheForce, this is exciting! I wish the USA would do something like this.

I thought the United States Mint 50 State Commemorative Quarters series was pretty good series and produced some minor varieties I never heard if anything big in varieties ever occurred in this series? But just think if they would of added X amount of coloured coins to the rolls like Canada did it might have been way more successful and exiting. Next time maybe they will try something like that

I have 2 RBC's that I deal with- both are now out of the men's. I will try a few others if I find some.

So, it's the reverse of what it was now?
I was only able to find two countersunk 2's out of six rolls -- all the rest were the 2's on top of the player's leg. I've got about 30 of those, and they were much more commoner than the countersunk ones.

Don't know about you all but since I've read about the mens hockey quarter, I've been on a tear trying to get as many of these coins as I can. One of the places that I've had great success is the local Tim's. Since I always get my double double in the AM - I asked one of the ladies if it wouldn't be too much trouble in putting them aside..... well I've got about 25 of them in the last week.
not too shabby....

Today, I got a bundle (10 rolls) of Cindy Klaussen quarters. I broke 9 of 10 open (I am keeping one roll in the plastic mint wrapping) and found anywhere from 1 to 10 colored coins per roll. I have 43 colored coins total out of 9 rolls.
Is there any known varieties like with the men's hockey team quarter discussed further back in this post ?
