Krause often exagrates the value of certain key date coins, specially non-US ones in my opinion.. this proof 1937 halfpenny must be from a George VI coronation set, which are about 200-250 Pounds sterling online, and yet, still being a key coin, I am not sure if it worth US 650 $ alone. Yet, it still worth a premium I think.

1938 or 1937?.. Is this the actual coin? this is a 1938 halfpenny.. this doesn't look a proof to my eye, rather than a heavily-cleaned regular circulation issue, though this is my opinion only - hope I am wrong!.. I'm afraid if I am right, than this is not a premium.

Sorry it was late last night when I found this 1938...............NO IT IS NOT CLEANED!!
Sorry for the caps. I went through this in my mind over and over again. I put a uncirculated 1938 next to it. This is a proof. It is just one of those things you have to see.

The thing also is the coin collection when I emptied the box it was laying flat and not standing upright. Like they were trying to hide it.
As most of you know I am a dealer. I am not selling this baby.

My only concern is the lack of detail for a proof coin. Is there any chance that this coin has been polished or lacquered? It wasn't an uncommon practice about 50 years ago.

I would like to see an image of the obverse, but from what I can see on the reverse this coin doesn't look to be proof. The cannon ports are missing on the hull along with the section of the keel at the bow. All three pendants on the mast should have detail of the union jack. The waves should stand our sharply and you should be able to see the line between the hull and waves. I've included an image of a 1939 so you see the difference. I would grade the 39 as EF-45. Your coin looks polished, I would grade it at VF-30.
