I need to get to the bank and open my SDB up....I might have a spare 53. While I was looking through my pictures I found a pic of another 53 in an NGC slab.

Fantastic looking Lincoln set as I have built one also but I have no intention of doing the early proofs. I still need the 1909-S VDB and the 1914-D to complete my set as I have intended to when I started.

Again, a gorgeous looking set.

Do you already have the 1922-D Plain hole filled in your Dansco, or is that one of the holes you planned to skip (as you mentioned in the other thread)? Just curious, because the inclusion of the 1922-D Plain really bothers me!

Yes my Dansco album does have the hole labeled for the 1922 D and I plan on skipping the 1922-D hole in my set. It's also very likely that the 1909-S VDB and 14-D holes will stay empty also. I did decide today after reading this thread to start to acquire the proofs from 1950-1964 to go with my set because I have all the proofs starting in 1968-S and forward.

I will probably end up putting a 1922-D "weak D" in that hole. I will definitely get the 1909-S VDB and 1914-D. Eventually.

Fyimo, good to hear your going with the proofs. I think it will be rewarding in the long run, also you may consider the '36-'42 proofs. I picked up the '40 and '42 so far and they were actually quite affordable. I have also been pricing the others and besides the '36 the prices aren't that bad and they pop up on ebay quite often.

I put a weak D in that slot Jbuck. The 14-D and the 1909-S VDB are necessary to have a really complete set however. Dansco really messes up their nice date and mint albums by including holes for error coins like the 1922. I would also include the 18/17 Buffalo and the three legged 37-D.

Jbuck

I just checked my album and I have a great 22-D in the slot for 22-D but the extra hole is for the 22 plain or weak D. I see so many 1922 weak D coins that I wonder how many of them are even genuine. I'm almost 66 and retired so I would love to get the 14-D and 09-S VDB but time will tell. If the Lincoln coin set was a major focus for me I probably would try to complete it. However, Right now I have been spending my time building certified sets like my Franklin half, Ike, SBA, and uncirculated American Eagles. I have spent a good deal of money on those in the past two years.

Exactly. Many are just worn coins.

This is a good read on the 1922-D varieties. It tells which cents the TPG's will call No-D and Weak-D.
