Dennis,
I forgot to mention that you need to have 50 posts before we can trade or sell. That is my fault for not letting you know earlier. When you have 50 posts I will be happy to trade or buy from you.

OOPS..Pardon me Irishraider, I'm still new without a clear understanding of the rules, obviously. I'll go back for a re-reading of the rule book right away.
As it happens, I will most likely be able to help soon, since I like this forum so much I will probably go into a posting frenzy for awhile at least...so many interesting topics and KNOWEDGABLE people/collectors, and so little time to soak it all in!!!
Best Regards, Dennis

When the new design (old design- 1953 coronation medal) 2002 50 cent coin were newly released, they were in circulation for a while. They were soon taken out of circulation by collectors. The nickel types are officially a circulating coin, but I have not seen more than 1 to 5 examples in a cash drawer in a year. When it was closer to 1968, they were in circulation, but as the issues got smaller, the coins disappeared. The silver issued did circulate, even the commemorative 1967 when silver was going sky high in price.

Im sorry some dont call me a collector but I hoard canadian coinage and have bought out my entire city of any available cents and nickels for sale. I hoard all pre-1996 canadian 98% copper cents; and pre-1981 nickel nickels.

I guess I could be considered an official collector too now. I acquired only a handful of Canadian coins about 15 years ago when I was a kid, and never thought anything of it until I went through it last year. Some of my latest purchases have been earlier Canadian stuff, so it's safe to say I'm hooked.

I collected American coins for 40 years and gave up a few years ago when I held a 1995 proof silver eagle (that I owned) and realized that (a coin with 35,000 examples extant) was going for around $6,500. I decided this was ridiculous and doomed to failure in the long run. I moved to Canada a couple of years ago and started collecting silver dollars (especially proof like) about a year ago. You can buy some dollars that are in the best 10 graded by any major service for under $1,000 on occasion and $5K can sometimes buy a "named" (as in from a famous collection) unique rarity. I LOVE IT. IT IS FUN TO COLLECT AGAIN. BACK IN THE STATES YOU CAN ALL GO BROKE AS THE BABY BOOMERS START SELLING OFF THEIR INFLATED "TREASURES"!!!!! GLAD TO BE OUT OF THAT PART. quote: Originally posted by scoutjim99

I have collected Canadian coins as long as I have U.S.. Having lived on Manitoulin Island. my childhood days I guess it was inevitable. Anyone ever hear of the Haweater dollars from Manitoulin?

Hi Steve, I believe the Manitoulan Haweater dollars are a long running Trade dollar series? dMy question for you is, do you have any knowledge on an actual coin for the island? Seems I remember hearing/reading about just one for Manitoulan some years past.

Hello Collecting coins from all world, the countries with many commemorative coins, like Canada, are erased with a cross.
But, I'm specially care with the Canadians provinces. -Newfounland -Nova Scotia -New Brunswick
And, of course the Lower Canada and Quebec. With a legend on English and French, they have a nice history.
I have a few coins of this kind, but looking for information is very exciting.
Best regards Joan
