Thanks sn31, I do have some American's (from my occational trips accross the boarder) but havn't kept them up over the years, so yeah mostly Canadian's. I have a feeling I'm not quite at the "guru" type status most here appear to be, but its all about having fun with collecting which I definitely am. I have definitely enjoyed browsing these message boards in my quest to actually determine which types of coins I do have. I would consider myself a novice. I'm am currently working on finishing my pennies, from 1900 up I still need a 1900H, 1907, the NSS/SS types in the 53-55 range and some of th 65 varieties. Next for me will be nickles. I have basically some of everything, my fewest type being silver dollars.

I have been working on my large and small cents for some time now too.Although,I have a mix of everything.
Here recently,I have put those on hold, and I've been focusing on collector coins.Canada has alot of beautiful coins and designs.
The same with the beautiful Aussie coins,it's a little hard to keep up with. But I manage a few at a time.
Good luck in your collecting, and Happy Hunting!!

I am Canadian and I have been collecting Canadian coins for the last few years. I started with a few collector products (like the 4 x birds and dogs 50¢). My interest shifted to the 1¢ and 5¢. I "completed" them relatively fast (well, not the expensive ones, and I was happy with quite a few G-VG older ones). Then I went back to the recent collector issues (along with France and Poland commemorative silver coins). I particularly enjoy the Canadian circulating commemorative coins issued in the last 2-3 years, and I have a weakness for first-day covers. Eventually, I would love to try completing the Canadian 25¢, 50¢, and 10¢ series. I guess I'm not very focused in my collecting habits, but I really enjoy the hobby.

Yes am a Canadian coin collector mostly Nickels from My Detroit suburbs days, like the Octagon stuff.
Nowadays, we have vendors/customers in Canada who tell me that the Canadian Gov't is recalling all per 2000 coins & melting them.

I have date sets of cents and nickels plus lots of others. I'll probably make an effort to fill in some missing dates when Dansco comes out with their Canadian albums later this year.

I haven't posted here before, because, like Renal, I thought you were looking for collectors from Canada. DOH. I collect world coins and as apart of that I do have about 30 coins from Canada. Jim, you know which one is my favourite... Thank you. Steve

Do you have any details on the Dansco Canadian albums or a link to a web site? I have been looking for this information, & have come up blank.

We get a lot of Canadian coins in Michigan. I keep any that are very nice or unusual or old (with a George on them). I've also bought some sets -- the 1992 quarters with the provinces/territories on them, and the 1999 and 2000 millennium sets.
The Canadians sure have nice stuff. I've always liked the paper money too because it was so colorful. Isn't it the $50 that has the Mounties on the back? That's a cool one.
