Don't think I ever found an Isle of Man coin in change apart from the occasional pound coin. Have spent a few though :)

I got this a few weeks ago.
Same happened last year, got a 2014 IOM £1 before a normal one.

Uk~-Interesting-Find-From-The-Circulation-In-The-Uk~

Apparently they only give out IOM coins on the island so presumably,
as they circulate over here freely, they need new ones earlier than we do.

I regularly get Gibraltar, IOM, Channel Islands in my change, also occasionally pre-Euro Irish coins, and yesterday a flattened 1959 'English type" shilling in a bag of 10ps from the bank.

I offer them at face value at car-boot sales.

I had a standard 2015 (Rank-Broadley head) two-pound coin in change today.

So far had the 2015 1p, 2p, 20p and 2 pounds - all Rank-Broadley - plus that Manx 50p.

I don't remember ever getting a £2 coin with the current year's date so early in the year before.

I got my first £2 yesterday too.
It is very early to be getting £2, but made me wonder whether the mint figures for last year were low
and so they needed some early on, or maybe they minted them early simply because it's the last year of the tech design.

Just for info - confirmed by the mint, all the commem £2's this year will have IRBs portrait !

Uk~-Interesting-Find-From-The-Circulation-In-The-Uk~

So all that media hype was just that, hype. I pity the people who've paid fortunes for one only to have them released into normal circulation 6 months later.

Have had 2x 2015 standard Technology/IRB £2 in the past week (north London). Presumably all the Britannia version will be 5th Portrait.

Begs an interesting question: the Chinese 'beat' the Brits at circulating WWI Navy £2, but who were the first to circulate 2015 Technology £2?

Or to be precise, whose were the first in circulation?

Hmm.... that's a toughie.... the first batch were sold on April 10th, allow 2 weeks for delivery, = 24th, then give 6 days to allow them to get sorted and circulate = 1st May.

As for when the legit £2 first started turning up... I don't have a clue !! But will hazard a guess that it was after that ?

I'm desperate for a Britannia £2 fake, as only 40 have made their way to the UK, and as of 3rd July they're no longer for sale, along with all other 2015 £2 designs (They did this a few weeks ago and came back with more stock so I expect they'll be back)
I do wonder tho if they've actually made them with the 5th portrait ?!

Ben: That's the first I've heard of new portrait 5p's... so far pennies and apparently 2p's too... I'm still yet to get an IRB 10p, let alone any new portraits.

(Hmm... I wonder if the commem 50p will have IRB or JC... I will assume they'll follow the £2's and use IRBs but as they forgot/didn't put a denom on, maybe it'll go on a JC reverse ?)

Got my first new portrait coin - a penny - in change today at the local supermarket, together with the first 2011 Olympic shooting 50p that I've ever had in change!

The Chinese have produced fakes of every £2 we're releasing this year.
The images they use come direct from the mint, but the coins are usually slightly different.
Unfortunately I haven't seen one or a picture of one of the fakes yet.

I know how many have come in by checking the websites sales (like ebay feedback)
This particular design - 40 have come to the UK, 40 to France and 80 to Lithuania.

Whereas 5,200 Royal Navy / HMS Belfast coins have made their way into Swansea,
along with 2,400 2015 Technology and 600 Mary Rose coins.
Also 400 Magna Carta, 200 Royal Navy / HMS Belfast & 200 Mary Rose made their way to Rochdale.

I should've been a private detective !!

I had a new portrait 5p in change today, at the self-service till at Sainsbury's. The machine can't have just been filled with new 5p's, as I got a 2011 in the same pile of change.

Me too, but on Tuesday, at Tesco, and it was a 2013.
My old lady got me a 1p and a couple IRB 10p's on Monday too.

Wow RED - that's in better condition than most of them were when they were issued - those early pound coins were struck in quite low relief and often had battered edges and lots of bagmarks even when new!
