So I think this means that the Battle of Britain 50 Pence, Magna Carter 2 Pound, and Royal Navy 2 Pound sold by The Royal Mint in sets or as individual coins which have the old portrait are not for circulation releases and the Royal Shield 1 pound coin with the new portrait is only availabe in a set from The Royal Mint.

Hi Kena

The BoB 50p, Magna Carta and Royal Navy £2 4th edition coins can be obtained through the 2015 UK Commemorative Proof Coin Set D15COM (cheapest set I think at £65)

http://www.royalmint.com/shop/The_2...oof_Coin_Set

However the 5th edition £1 coin looks like it is, or will be in circulation from the image a few posts up.

Have I got that right?

You can also buy the Royal Navy, Manga Carta, and Battle of Britian as individual BU coins or in the BU set.

http://www.royalmint.com/shop/The_2...ual_Coin_Set which also gives you both £5 coins (Churchill and Waterloo).

The Royal Arms with the new portrait is available either from the individual coin or in circulation in the future.

The new portrait Royal Shield coin appears only be in sets from The Royal Mint with http://www.royalmint.com/shop/The_F...rculated_Set being the lowest choice option.

So this has been first year since 2008, that I have purchased BU sets from The Royal Mint.

Hi Kena
OK, thanks and I still have a few questions for you or anyone else in the know.

Below is a summary of what I currently believe....

Uk~-Interesting-Find-From-The-Circulation-In-The-Uk~

Green represents what you have confirmed, Amber represents possibles and red is unknown (to me)

1) Is the BoB 50p 4th portrait available in circulation and is it on the individual coin set shown?

2) Is the new Royal arms coin available with the 4th portrait and is it in the individual coin set?

3) Do the individual magna carta and RN £2 coin sets come in the 4th portrait?

4) Lastly is there anywhere a 4th portrait Britannia £2 and a 5th portrait £2 Giants?

Uk~-Interesting-Find-From-The-Circulation-In-The-Uk~

Clear as mud?

Here is my list of what I am expecting to find in circulation:

2015 Royal Shield 1 Pence IRB
2015 Royal Shield 1 Pence JC
2015 Royal Shield 2 Pence IRB
2015 Royal Shield 2 Pence JC
2015 Royal Shield 5 Pence IRB
2015 Royal Shield 5 Pence JC
2015 Royal Shield 10 Pence IRB
2015 Royal Shield 10 Pence JC
2015 Royal Shield 20 Pence IRB
2015 Royal Shield 20 Pence JC
2015 Royal Shield 50 Pence IRB
2015 Royal Shield 50 Pence JC
2015 Battle of Britain 50 Pence JC
2015 Royal Shield Pound IRB
2015 Royal Arms Pound JC
2015 Standard 2 Pound IRB
2015 Magna Carter 2 Pound JC
2015 Royal Navy 2 Pound JC
2015 Britannia 2 Pound JC

IRB - 4th portrait
JC - 5th portrait

This matches the Coin Hunt picture from The Royal Mint.

1) Is the BoB 50p 4th portrait available in circulation and is it on the individual coin set shown? The IRB BoB 50 pence is only available in sets from The Royal Mint. So your table is correct for this.

2) Is the new Royal arms coin available with the 4th portrait and is it in the individual coin set? - new Royal Arms reverse only has the new portrait by Jody Clark.

3) Do the individual magna carta and RN £2 coin sets come in the 4th portrait? Yes, these coins from The Royal Mint have the IRB portrait.

4) Lastly is there anywhere a 4th portrait Britannia £2 and a 5th portrait £2 Giants? There is no IRB £2 Britannia or JC £2 Giants.

So the unique coins only in sets or packs from The Royal Mint.

IRB portrait - BoB 50 pence, Royal Navy £2, Magna Carta £2
JC portrait - Royal Shield £1

So in your table, you need to remove the two colums with red ? and take off the 4th portrait Royal Arms since the item from The Royal Mint is the 5th portrait coin which will circulate.

Your table is correct for the 4th BoB 50 pence, 5th Royal Shield £1, 4th Magna £2, and 4th RN £2.

What appears to be unique circulation releases right now are JC BoB 50 pence, JC Royal Navy £2, and JC Magna Carta £2. I cam't fimd amy sets or these as individual coin packs from The Royal Mint.

At least as far as I can determine.

What do the others think?

Apparently a REAL Magna Carta £2 was given out in change in the Mansfield Sainsburys on 16th Oct.
Coin DOES have an inscription on the side so isn't a fake, but no pics of the obverse were given so can't
validate is as a genuine circulation find.
More JC New Arms £`1 have been turning up too. Unfortunately none this far north :(

I've got a screenshot of the original post and the image (It was a facebook group post)

Uk~-Interesting-Find-From-The-Circulation-In-The-Uk~

Straight away someone said it looked fake... pah, Wannabes, looks 100% legit but whether
it is a JC portrait or a split bunc IRB, I'm still waiting to hear back from the owner.

For sure, looks legit to me.. Polished looking enough to be a new strike too.

Have you seen the error on the coin? King John is holding a quill and apparently he would have used the royal seal for the Magna Carta..

Yep, there was a big thing about it a while back.
Realistically though, most people associate the signing of something to be with a pen so while it's historically inaccurate, it makes sense to people more than him holding something like a seal stamp.

While I'm here, this has cropped up on facebook... don't know what the source is, and 5 commemorative £2's sounds a little far-fetched (Although when you consider the new coin hunt folders from the mint won't contain a completer, but they've announced the £1 folder does need a 2016 £1 coin they won't be releasing into circulation!! maybe not so far-fetched)

Hi all. I have it on good authority that 2016 coin designs will be the following commemorative coins:
50 Pence: Battle of Hastings
2 Pounds: The Great fire of London
2 Pounds: The First World War
2 Pounds: William Shakespeare - The Hollow Crown
2 Pounds: William Shakespeare - All the world's a stage
2 Pounds: William Shakespeare - What a piece of work is a man
5 Pounds: 90th Anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II

Uh ho... 2016 coins already!!

My 2015 collection is still far from complete :(

Actually 2016 is:
950 years since the battle of Hastings
350 years since the great fire of London
400 years since Shakespeare's death

(google is my friend)

so these all make sense.

The battles of Verdun, Jutland and the Somme were in 1916.

2p.
