Someone is claiming a JC/Royal Shield £1 on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331695758770 . Maybe it's one of those cut and shut jobs like the double headed and double tailed 'trick' coins, though I can't make out a join in the photos. Seller does say "ERROR?"

Thanks for that link UKPennyHunter :) They've released pics of them now. Long time before we see these in change tho... still waiting for this years commems to make it out !! Here's the best pic I've found of the 2016 (Non-circulating) £1 coin.... I noticed that one too MC... the coins DO exist but only in the First Editions Brilliant Uncirculated set (@ £25 for the set) http://www.royalmint.com/shop/The_F...oductdetailsHere's one of my latest plucks from circulation.... Bet you won't find another !! My two weaknesses rolled into one... a large ERROR on a FAKE coin (Made even nicer by the fact I got it for fv) Also bought my best fake pound coin yet, i'll post some pics over on the fake thread when I take them later ;)

Wow, so in addition to that 1066 and the Magna Carta have any other coins featured an English monarch on the reverse? (not counting Charles-Diana crown!) And considering The Royal Mint charges £5 postage for that £25.00 set, that ebayer might lose £2.12 + his own p+p unless he also sells on other coins in the set for more than face value.

No problem RED, your post prompted me to get more info so now I know exactly thanks to your headstart! :)
By the way that 2016 (non-circulating) £1 coin is a piedfort coin (double the thickness as a regular), but you probably already knew that.

Finally I got a one of the second round of 1 Penny coins in my change today.
I now have a complete collection of every circulating penny since 1971. Until 2016 that is.

Another oddity from the 2014 Royal Mint issue of circulation coinage. Looks like the hammer die had some serious crud on it or the blank had it instead, either way it resulted in the destruction of the word FIFTY along with an overall weak strike. I will do some clearer/ better pictures when I get the chance, they will show its not PMD for any doubters.

Still not happened across new portraits for 50p, £1 and £2 either... pfft...
I am keeping my eyes expectantly on my change but nothing exciting to be seen at the moment.

Quote: Has ANYONE seen an of the 2015 commemorative coins in circulation yet? Obviously I haven't :( Me neither! I got a new portrait 1p today in change from Aldi (where they often seem to have new coins in the tills) and a few days ago I got only the second 2013 2p I've ever had in change!

Wow, what a find! I didn't think that after the OTT press release about how amazingly super rare these are (oh please) that there would be any still in circulation. Well done that man

I couldn't really believe it. I know they aren't that rare but still - a nice surprise when I noticed it.

Nicely done.
Statistically they make up just 0.02% of all 50ps currently in circulation (210,000 out of 980 million) so you were extremely lucky to find one.

Demarco's statistic probably doesn't take into account the number of these being hoarded. Its quite an achievement...
Congratulations.
