Yup. Sounds plausible to me. The 1980 50p piece; any thoughts as to what's going on there?

Might have been your banknote collection, Paddy? Got a bit jumbled! I know someone here has a really awesome collection that they put a video of.

Banknotes not me - sorry! I have never really got into them - too vulnerable to damage for my ham fists! 1980 - what is the query? They are not scarce in general - 89 million made. I see them all over ebay sold at a £1 or two. Getting a really good condition circulation issue may be more of an issue, but not mega bucks...

I believe Hogarth was referring to the 50p picture he posted on the previous page with a very rounded edge - possibly got stuck in a washing machine or something?

Ah - OK - I am with you now. That 1980 50p is very odd. I can't envisage any mechanism whereby it left the mint like that. Maybe someone was trying to make it rounder by bashing in the corners and flattening them down? Or stuck in some rotary machine (like a washing machine) that was turning it between flat plates and pressing the corners simultaneously? We will probably never know. Can't even be sure if it was accidental or deliberate.

Won these two today in the pusher machine at my local amusement arcade: 2019 "J" alphabet 10p: 2007 Canada 25 cents: The "J" 10p is the first Alphabet coin I've found in circulation this year. I saw it last weekend, but it wasn't in a playable position. I went back to the same machine today and it was tantalisingly near the edge, so I changed £2 for 10p's and won it! Funnily enough, I didn't spot the Canadian quarter at all - it was buried by other coins and came down in a shower of others when I won the "J" coin"!

Received in change, A very bland design IMO. The only other 2020 coin I found so far being the Brexit 50p.

Well done andyg! I got £250 in 50p's from my bank a couple of weeks ago and still haven't had either a Brexit 50p or the new Diversity coin...

And in New Zealand, all those 50p, £2 and pre 2016 £1 commems.

My first Brexit 50p - from the change machine at my local supermarket! Also the first 2020-dated coin of any sort that I've found in circulation...
